Atyan Ezyem – the council of elders of the Erzya people – recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as an act of genocide. The corresponding resolution of November 26 was published on the website of the inyazor, the chief elder of the Erzians.
On Saturday, November 26, Atyan Ezyem, the council of elders of the Erzya people, recognized the Holodomor (The Great Famine) of 1932-1933 as an act of genocide. The relevant resolution was published on the website of Inyazor, the chief elder of the Erzians.
"Erzyans do not have their own state – that's why our resolution is a resolution of the national representative body – the Council of Elders. The review of the document was initiated by a group of Erzya combatants who are fighting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Perhaps Ukraine and Ukrainians will not pay attention to our decision, but we are doing it, first of all, for the sake of historical justice and in order to distance ourselves from this misanthropic empire. One cannot shout about Moscow's policy of ethnocide against the Erzians, but not notice and share the pain and suffering that Moscow has inflicted on other peoples. Therefore, this document is important, first of all, for our spiritual healing to overcome colonial thinking," explains Atyan Ezyem member Vitaly Romashkin.
The Erzya resolution refers to the decisions of the parliaments of Ukraine, Estonia and Hungary and affirms:
1. To recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people.
2. Translate the text of the said Resolution into Ukrainian and English and send it to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
3. To recommend Inyazor and other representatives of Kirdiyur annually, on the last Saturday of November, in the host countries, to light the Candle of Remembrance and lay flowers at the memorials of Holodomor victims.
Inyazor (chief elder of Erzyan) Syres Bolyaen notes that the text of Atyan Ezyem's resolution has already been translated into Ukrainian and will be sent to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a corresponding accompanying letter in the coming days.
